Review of Still got 'em, Feb/March 2004 issue

Sunshine State guitarist Charlie Morris chalks up a winner with Still got 'em (BluesPages 70005), a solid effort that sounds effortless. Don't let Morris's less-is-more approach fool you: there's enough variety and feeling here for two albums. The first cut is loping blue soul fueled by a cooking horn section; the last is a slow half-spoken song-story about the repercussions of inebriation. In between, great tunes diverse in style, arrangement, and instrumentation. Better than we deserve, probably.
