Whenever I release a new CD, I send a copy to each of the major blues record labels. Not in any real hope of a contract, but just to let them know what I'm up to. Recently I was pleased to receive a reply from perhaps the best known and respected exec in blues music today, Bruce Iglauer of Alligator Records. Of course, it was a rejection letter, but he took the time to write a detailed critique of my material, which I thought was very nice of him (especially as he didn't say it totally sucked). Here are a few of the highlights.

A Letter from Bruce Iglauer

Still Got Em - you have an attractive natural sounding voice, with good vocal pitches.

Mr. Miracle Meets His Match - fun takeoff on the typical blues bragging song. I love the dialogue with the singers, Mr. Quick Stuff.

The First One - well written song, good vocal and performance. I enjoyed the solo too. This hit me the best so far.

Rambling Blues - tasty guitar that I really enjoyed. Pleasantly relaxed vocal. Really nice gentle vibe.

Cain't Help Myself - attractive jam on a song that I already heard. Good instrumental work.

Charlie, you seem to be a fine guitarist and a good entertainer. You have a pleasant voice and some fun songs.
